Cyprus-Specific Mediterranean Diet Pyramid Presented at International Congress
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taygun Dayı, faculty member at Near East University, Faculty of Health Sciences,
Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Pediatric Dietitian at Near East University Hospital,
presented the “Cyprus Version of the Mediterranean Diet Pyramid”—the first and only nutrition
pyramid unique to the island of Cyprus—at the 6th International Congress on Mediterranean
Scientific Research, which focused on Mediterranean-origin studies.
At the congress, held in Kyrenia between March 14-16, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dayı discussed the
methods followed and key considerations taken into account during the development of the
pyramid, and offered recommendations to guide future research.
