Gülşen Özduran was born on 22 August 1990 in Manisa / Salihli. After completing her primary and secondary education at 50. Yıl Primary School, she completed her high school education at Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School (2004 – 2006) and Mardin Anatolian High School (2006 – 2008). She graduated from Başkent University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2014. Then, she continued her master's degree at the Near East University Institute of Health Sciences Nutrition and Dietetics Master's Program and completed it in 2017. In 2022, she defended her PhD thesis titled "Neuroprotective Effects of Catechins in the Experimental Parkinson's Model" and obtained the PhD degree. She was appointed as an assistant professor at Near East University in 2022. She served as the Department Coordinator of the Department of Audiology between 2015 and 2017, the Department of Occupational Therapy between 2017 and 2022, and the Department of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management between 2022 and September 2023. She has been serving as the Head of the Department of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management at the Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences since September 2023. She has been working at the Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2014 and continues to work as a faculty member. She has been working at the DESAM Research Institute Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Group at Near East University since 2023. She has numerous articles published in national and internationally indexed journals, as well as presentations and keynote-speeched at various conferences and symposiums. Her areas of interest are principles of nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, functional foods, food chemistry and analysis, food-drug interactions, sleep and nutrition, nutrition in disasters, nutrition in neurodegenerative diseases and healthy nutrition.
